Professor and Students Host Podcast to Help Aspiring Screenwriters

KENNESAW, Ga. (Aug 10, 2020) — “Six-Page Scripts” is a new educational podcast created by screenwriters, for screenwriters. Mitchell Olson, Assistant Professor of Screen & TV Writing in the Department of English, is the host, along with a graduate research assistant, students from the Master’s of Professional Writing program and, occasionally, industry professionals. The hosts read and critique listener-submitted scripts every week.

Unlike Hollywood where the line is usually “We love it, but [insert long list of everything they don’t love],” the hosts aim to highlight and celebrate what works well in the scripts, as well as tips and advice on how the writers can improve them. In addition to valuable feedback, featured writers come away from the show with a quality audio production of their script that they can share with producers, or simply their friends, family and social networks. Listeners also benefit from hearing the feedback, as every script they workshop - even the great ones - have specific and unique teachable moments and techniques that listeners can apply to their own writing.
