Welcome to our new faculty members, Dr. Sarasij Majumder and Dr. Kenneth Williamson

KENNESAW, Ga. (Aug 19, 2010) — This semester we have two new full-time faculty members joining the Department of Geography & Anthropology.

Dr. Kenneth Williamson is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology with a joint appointment in the African and African Diaspora Studies Program. He received his Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2005. He is a cultural anthropologist and his continuing research and teaching interests include several areas: African Diaspora studies, race and ethnicity, social movements, community-based research, participatory action research, applied anthropology, experimental ethnography, anthropology of education, Afro-Brazilian identity and mobilization.

Dr. Sarasij Majumder is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology with a joint appointment in the Asian Studies Program. He is a cultural anthropologist and recently completed his PhD from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Dr. Majumder’s broader research interests include critical political economy, development, and rural change in South and South-East Asia. He is also interested in Critical Media Studies, Economic Anthropology, Anthropology of Neoliberalism, Anthropology of Globalization and Transnationalism, Agrarian Transition, Anthropology of Mass Media, Environmental Anthropology, Power and Agency, Anthropology of Consumption, and South Asia.
