New Intensive English Program Center at KSU

KENNESAW, Ga. (May 5, 2009) — The College of Humanities and Social Sciences is pleased to announce the approval of a new center at Kennesaw State University: The Intensive English Program Center with Dr. David Johnson serving as its Director. This will be an intensive English learning experience for international students who are interested in pursuing higher education in the U.S., but who lack English proficiency. The Intensive English Program (IEP) will accept students at all levels of English proficiency, and through intensive language and culture classes, these students will progress, so they can matriculate into Kennesaw State or other institutions of higher learning. Non F1-visa students can attend full-time or part-time. F1-visa students must attend full-time per immigration regulations.

Through the years, there has been a call for such an IEP at KSU, and we are pleased to announce that we will be launching the new IEP Fall 2009. We anticipate that there will be numerous programs on campus that will want to utilize the IEP as a recruitment tool for international students. If you are involved in such a program, please contact Dr. Johnson directly.

Dr. Johnson is also asking the KSU community to help spread the word about the new IEP. If anyone knows of students who are looking for an IEP or if you have affiliations with institutions abroad, please let Dr. Johnson know and he can provide additional information either to individual students or institutions.

This is a much needed program at KSU given our commitment to global initiatives. Ultimately, this program will increase our international population at KSU, and KSU will be able to share in the rich cultural heritage of students from around the world.

IEP would like to thank Dr. Papp, Dr. Black, the Deans, the HSS Dean's staff, University College, Continuing Education, Human Resources, the Department of Inclusive Educations, University Housing, Card Services, the Bursar's Office, and the Institute for Global Initiatives for their help in launching this program.
