KSU Public Relations students shine at 2016 Cox Media Diversity & Inclusion Summit

KENNESAW, Ga. (May 11, 2016) — Students in Dr. Heflin's Spring 2016 Public Relations Campaigns (PR 4465) classes developed a comprehensive public relations campaign for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. They began the semester by conducting focus groups, surveys, competitive research and a communication audit. They then developed a detailed public relations plan based on their research, which included a situation analysis, goals, objectives, key messages, strategies, tactics, budgets, timelines and evaluation methods. Students also created a wide variety of communication tactic prototypes to assist The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in implementing their campaign. At the end of the semester, leaders at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution were so impressed with the work that they asked a group of students to present these campaigns at the 2016 Cox Media Diversity & Inclusion Summit. The lucky students were Gabby Bicalho, Bianca Anderson, Elyse Demoya, and Ledasha Jackson. The Summit took place at the Cox Media headquarters in Atlanta and students presented to more than 40 Cox Media executives.
