Summer 2019 - Venture to Vietnam

For the first time in KSU history, we will be venturing to Vietnam for a 28-day journey through Northern and Central Vietnam! This will be led by Dr. Nicole Martin and Dr. Teresa Neal, both faculty for the Department of Psychological Science, who bring their experience with Vietnam, Vietnamese culture, and cross-cultural immersion to this month-long educational and service experience.

Students can earn 3 - 9 credits for upper division Psychology courses:

PSYC 3305: Lifespan Development in Vietnam (3 hours)

PSYC 3355: Cross - Cultural Psychology (3 hours)

PSYC 4490: Ethnic Minority Families (3 hours)

These classes are part of the major requirements for all Psychology students, though all majors are welcome.

Summer 2019 - European Council Program in Edinburgh 

Come join us to live and study for two weeks in historic Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland and UNESCO City of Literature and home to two World Heritage Sites. Courses offered will be completed through both onsite lectures, walking tours, and group discussions coupled with readings, writing assignments and online lectures. Coursework will begin in the weeks before we leave, and will continue after we return via online content. 

Students can earn 3 - 6 credits of Psychology courses:

PSYC 1101: Introduction to General Psychology (3 credits)

PSYC 4490: Psychology of Love (3 credits)

Summer 2019 - Psychology in Peru

Join us for the 4th annual Psychology in Peru program, open to all majors. The program, led by Dr. Gail Scott & Dr. Patrick Devine, is an 18 day, once-in-a-lifetime educational, service-learning and cross-cultural experience, as we tour Peru, including the modern Wonder of the World - Machu Picchu. An important element in our Peruvian culture engagement is the participation in two community service projects related to behavioral health; a center created for women empowerment, and a community supported gerontology center. Only PSYC 1101: Introduction to General Psychology is required as a prerequisite. 

Students will complete 6 credits of upper division Psychology courses:

PSYC 4490: Leadership: A Peruvian Cross-Cultural Perspective (3 hours)

PSYC 4498: Peruvian Capstone & Field Practicum in Educational Psychology (3 hours)

Summer 2019 - Multidisciplinary Studies in China

This multidisciplinary program will offer a choice of a combination of business, psychology, and Asian studies courses. The main part of the experience will be held with Dongbei University of Finance and Economics (DUFE) in Dalian China. Dalian, unlike most of China in summer has very pleasant weather and is a multi-ethnic port for Manchuria, as it is close to Korea, Russia, and Japan. The courses will be taught by KSU and DUFE faculty, together with joint projects and social events with DUFE students.

We will visit Beijing, Dalian, Shanghai, Harbin, and Xian. Students will have many opportunities to learn basic Mandarin, study Chinese culture, meet local Chinese students, indulge in the life of a Chinese student.

PSYC 4490: Chinese and Chinese American Culture & Psychology (3 credits)
