Welcome to the Interdisciplinary Studies Department (ISD) at Kennesaw State University. With its focus on diversity, social justice, and community engagement, and a structure that encompasses eight different interdisciplinary programs, ISD is a unique department. We teach courses that bring together insights from many disciplines, and we encourage research and engagement projects aimed at solving real world problems, from the local to the global level. ISD is a forward looking department that seeks to prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century, challenges that require understanding the interconnectedness of people and ideas. Come and explore with us!
Recent attacks on KSU students prompted this statement from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences:
In light of the recent social media attacks directed at students of color and non-Christian students at Kennesaw State University, the faculty, deans, department chairs, and school directors of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences emphasize our commitment to condemn and confront hate-speech and discrimination directed against members of our campus community. We celebrate differences of color, religion, and sexual orientation and identity as we prepare our students for the diversity they will encounter in the workplace. We call on members of our college and the wider campus community to affirm the CHSS mission “to empower our students to understand the human condition, to meet the challenges of the twenty-first century, and to become contributing citizens in a global society.” It is the responsibility of all members of the KSU community—including students, faculty, staff and administrators—to challenge and report violations of the Student Code of Conduct and to help foster a safe and peaceful campus. We must engage these issues rather than being silent.
