KENNESAW, Ga. (Jul 13, 2011) — The StarTalk Intensive Summer Program for Chinese Teachers in P-12 provides intensive training for twenty Chinese teachers in the knowledge and skills to implement a P-12 Chinese curriculum grounded in national and state standards. Instructional formats include: Lectures, hands-on-activities, discussions, group work, peer review, reflections, teaching opportunities followed by feedback, and participation online. The program offers a 3-credit graduate course, CHNS 7704: Chinese Pedagogical Linguistics, which can be applied towards the Alternative Teacher Preparation Program or the Master of Arts in teaching Chinese, both of which lead to P-12 Georgia teacher certification in Chinese and are offered at KSU. Current teachers of Chinese from P-12 public and private schools as well as community language schools will be participating in the program.
