PhD Candidate in INCM Wins Paper Competition at Southern Anthropological Society Annual Meeting

 

KENNESAW, Ga. (Mar 28, 2017)INCM student wins the graduate student paper competition at this year's Southern Anthropological Society annual meeting in Carrollton, GA

The SAS Annual Student Paper Competition at the University of West Georgia welcomed submissions from all subfields of anthropology. The papers included original fieldwork, original analysis of data collected by others, and/or original analysis of existing published research or theory. This year, the conference saw more student paper submissions than last year and the quality was better overall!

The committee chose to make three awards:

In the graduate division, first place was awarded to Yeju Choi, Kennesaw State University, for the paper "The Examination of Reconciliation Movement in the Canadian Cultural Genocide."

In the undergraduate division, the committee awarded the first prize to Benjamin Bridges, Elon University, for his paper "Navigating Globalization through Myth in Quechua Communities of Southern Peru."

An honorable mention was awarded to Caroline New, Davidson College, for her paper "Scars That Shimmy and Sing: How Antankarana Historical Trauma is Communicated through the Salegy."

The winners received a $200.00 check, certificate, and selection of books.
