National Advisory Board Mentoring Session

KENNESAW, Ga. (Nov 14, 2011) — The semi-annual meeting of the National Advisory Board took place on Friday, Oct. 28. A mentoring session for students was held from 9 to 11 in the History Center for students to ask questions of top Communication professionals. The board is composed of eighteen members from organizations such as CNN, Georgia Public Broadcasting and Chick-Fil-A. The session, open to all Communication majors, was followed by the NAB business meeting. Students from the first cohort of the new graduate program in Integrated Global Communication also joined the NAB members for lunch.

This was the third year that students have been invited to a mentoring session. Early in the program small groups of students were invited to meet with the board members. As Dr. Charles Mayo, the faculty liaison for the NAB, explains, this student interaction became a highlight of the NAB meetings. As a result, the mentoring sessions were expanded to include all students. This is an excellent opportunity to share ideas and discuss career aspirations with professionals in the Communication field.
