Morocco trip proves successful for American Studies, the College, and KSU

KENNESAW, Ga. (Oct 30, 2007) — Kennesaw State University and Hassan II University strengthened their relationship last week when a four member team from KSU traveled to Casablanca, Morocco to give a series of seminars in American Studies and to meet with HIIU officials about future activities between the Universities.

Each member of the team:  Dean Richard Vengroff, Sarah Robbins, Nina Morgan, and Cindy Vengroff, made a two-hour seminar presentation. The seminars were well attended by faculty, graduate, and undergraduate students in American Studies. The team reports that many students and faculty posed questions during the four two hour seminars all of which ran over at least a half an hour.

The team also had some extremely productive meetings with the Dean of Letters, American Studies and English department heads, and the President, Vice Presidents and other Deans at HIIU. President Daniel Papp and Dr. Akanmu Adebayo participated via teleconference. They discussed several activities between the Universities and agreed on   a preliminary schedule for the next two years. The activities will include a variety of seminars, faculty exchanges, joint graduate programs, and student exchanges. In addition to American Studies, other disciplines have been identified for possible inclusion under the Memorandum of Understanding to be signed between the two universities in December.
