Linda Treiber, Gail Markle, and Brandon Attell Publish a New Article

KENNESAW, Ga. (Sep 14, 2016) — Linda Treiber, Gail Markle, and Brandon Attell have published a new article entitled, “Cascading Losses: A Case Study of Suffering from AIDS and Head and Neck Cancer,” in the journal, Illness, Crisis, & Loss, 24 (4): 217-235.

The article provides analysis of an online illness narrative written by a middle-aged man living with HIV/AIDS who received a diagnosis of squamous cell cancer of the tongue. The onset of a second illness initiated a series of cascading losses that became increasingly problematic, severe, and interconnected. The case study broadens our understanding of what it means to live with a complex and unusual combination of illnesses and offers recommendations for practitioners and scholars engaged in the sociology of loss.
