KSU wins 2010 Sloan-C Award for program developed by Dr. Tamara Powell

KENNESAW, Ga. (Sep 22, 2010) — We are happy to announce that Kennesaw State University has been selected to be the recipient of the 2010 Sloan-C Award for Excellence in Faculty Development for Online Teaching. The award is for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences' "Build a Web Course" Faculty Development Program. This program is directed by Dr. Tamara Powell, Director of Distance Education, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Associate Professor of English, at Kennesaw State. The award will be presented at the 16th Sloan-C International Conference on Online Learning in Orlando, Florida, on Thursday, November 4th, 2010.

A distinguished committee of national leaders in online education was responsible for evaluating the nominations for the Sloan-C awards.

The chair of the Awards Selection Committee Burks Oakley stated that the competition for this award was particularly strong this year, and the selection committee felt that the Kennesaw State faculty development program was exemplary.
