KSU screening and panel discussion of the documentary Released a huge success

 

KENNESAW, Ga. (Oct 25, 2017) — On October 16, 2017, the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at Kennesaw State University, in partnership with the U.S. Attorney's Office and the Metro Atlanta Reentry Coalition, hosted a screening of the documentary Released, which focuses on the barriers individuals face when re-entering society after incarceration. Following the screening, a discussion session was held with panel members addressing questions from the audience. Three individuals featured in the film were on the panel, along with Dr. Jim McCafferty (Dept of Sociology and CJ), Chief Craig Cazier (Department of Community Supervision), and Ms. Judith Ripley (former officer with the Georgia Department of Corrections and Pardons and Parole). This event was co-sponsored by the Department of Social Work and Human Services, as well as Alpha Phi Sigma (Criminal Justice Honor Society), Alpha Kappa Delta (Sociology Honor Society), and the Student Organization of Sociology. Over 100 students attended the screening.
