Kennesaw State University acquires U.S. Rep. Phil Gingrey's official records

KENNESAW, Ga. (Dec 8, 2014) — Kennesaw State University President Daniel S. Papp and Rep. Phil Gingrey signed a Deed of Gift on December 5 transferring to the University the official papers of the six-term Republican congressman and former state senator. The Deed of Gift signing marked the official transfer of Gingrey’s records. Processing of Rep. Gingrey’s official collection will begin in early 2015.

Kennesaw State’s Department of Museums, Archives and Rare Books provides stewardship for Kennesaw State's collections and presents exhibitions, public programs and outreach activities to engage the campus and the broader community. It comprises multiple units, including the Museum of History and Holocaust Education, the Bentley Rare Books Gallery, KSU Archives and the Bernard A. Zuckerman Museum of Art.

“This donation marks Kennesaw State’s first congressional collection, and we hope others will follow Rep. Gingrey’s lead,” said Tamara Livingston, executive director of Museums, Archives and Rare Books. “Because of his strong ties to Marietta and Cobb County, Rep. Gingrey’s collection is of great importance to those interested in local history, as well as to political science students and researchers of national legislation.”
