Graduate Assistantships Now Open - Apply Before July 18th

KENNESAW, Ga. (Jul 16, 2014) — Human Resources has opened the application procedure for Graduate Assistants. These positions may be for Research Assistants or Teaching Assistants. The MAST Program has six positions available for Graduate Assistants in the 2014-2015 academic year. MAST GRA and GTA positions are learning opportunities for MAST students which support professionalism in the context of the program, while also providing financial support.

An overview of the experience follows:

1. A GRA student commits to work 13-19.5 hours per week in the funded semester and to regularly communicate with the GRA supervisor.

2. Each GRA comes with a stipend of $4,000 for the term, plus tuition remission. Note that student fees and books are not included in the tuition waiver.

3. We anticipate that we will have at least one position for a GTA in AMST 1102 in Spring 2015. These GTA positions are available only to students who will have completed both AMST 7000 and AMST 7100 by January 2015.

MAST Student Application Process:

1. Students will apply through “Student” portion of the Human Resources website: https://kennesaw.hiretouch.com/ksu-jobs-home/search-ksu-jobs

2. Students should apply in the “Graduate Research Assistant – American Studies” category, and the “Graduate Research Assistant – General Studies” category, as well as any other department or academic program in which you may have qualifications or interest. 3. Each American Studies faculty member who has a GRA/GTA allotment for the 2014-2015 school year will review all the MAST Graduate Assistant applications that come through the American Studies folder from HR, and will directly contact you individually for an interview if they find that your skills and interest match their project goals. In order for the faculty to evaluate your applications, they would like to see additional materials beyond what is asked for by Human Resources.

4. To help faculty review your application, please send an email to Jade Hill, cc’ing Rebecca Hill with an answer to the following question: Will you permit the faculty in American Studies who are reviewing your GRA application to see your personal statement and reference letters from your application to the MA Program in American Studies?

Applications are due no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, July 18th.

Please contact Jade Hill with any questions.
