Georgia Humanities Council provides grant for upcoming Walter Rodney Public Speaker's Series

KENNESAW, Ga. (Jan 16, 2013) — The African and African-Diaspora Studies program at Kennesaw State University is pleased to announce they have received a grant from the Georgia Humanities Council for the upcoming Walter Rodney Public Speaker's Series. The Walter Rodney Public Speaker's Series is sponsored by the Kennesaw State University African and African-Diaspora Studies program, the Robert W. Woodruff Library, and The Walter Rodney Foundation.

In a message announcing the approval of the grant, Ms. Arden Williams, Senior Program Officer at the Georgia Humanities Council wrote "On behalf of the Georgia Humanities Council, let me be the first to congratulate you on receiving a grant for your recent proposal. The grants were very competitive this time around and we were only able to fund half of the proposals we received. So, great job!"

About the Speaker Series
Kennesaw State University, in collaboration with the Walter Rodney Foundation and the Robert W. Woodruff Library, is sponsoring a public lecture series on the life and work of Dr. Walter Rodney and his core contributions to Pan-Africanism, development theory, emancipatory pedagogy, and theories of race and class in the Caribbean, Africa and the rest of the world. This initiative is made possible by a generous grant from the Georgia Humanities Council.

Events will be held at the Atlanta University Center Robert W. Woodruff Library or Thursdays, 5:00-6:00pm starting 1/17/2013 and running through 4/25/2013.
