Dr. Dawn Latta Kirby named new Assistant Dean of College

 

KENNESAW, Ga. (Sep 18, 2009) — The College of Humanities and Social Sciences is pleased to announce that after an extensive search, Dr. Dawn Latta Kirby has been selected as the new Assistant Dean of the College. Dr. Kirby will take over for the recently retired Dr. Hugh Hunt.

Dr. Kirby is a Professor of English and English Education. She has taught at Kennesaw State since 2005 and is Director of the Kennesaw Mountain Writing Project, a site of the National Writing Project. Dr. Kirby's scholarship focuses on teaching writing, on mentoring faculty, and on the effects of high-stakes testing on students' learning. She is the co-author of two books, Inside Out and New Directions in Teaching Memoir. She has published numerous articles in professional journals and presents regularly at state and national conferences.

Dean Richard Vengroff said "Dr. Kirby has an outstanding record of scholarship, teaching, and leadership. We are fortunate to have her considerable experience brought to this important position."
