Communication Students Win Multiple Awards for Radio Drama

KENNESAW, Ga. (Feb 14, 2012) — Communication students Tony Sarrecchia and Breanne Ahearn recently won the Broadcast Education Association title “Best of Fest” for the “Harry Strange Radio Drama,” which will be profiled at the BEA’s Festival of Media Arts in Las Vegas this April. However, this is not the first award “Harry Strange” has picked up. In October of 2011 the series won 2nd place in the category "Best Regularly Scheduled Program" from College Broadcasters, Inc., and 3rd place for "Best of Show" from the American Collegiate Press. Their success has also been recently featured on Patch.com.

“Harry Strange,” created by Tony Sarrecchia, is the story of a private investigator who encounters the supernatural. The series is modeled after the classic radio dramas of the 1940’s and 50’s. Sarrecchia and Ahearn produce the weekly series that runs from February to June. Now in its second season, “Harry Strange” is broadcast on KSU’s Owl Radio as well as Griffin Radio at Grossmont College in El Cajon, CA, and Silly Snowman Radio in Canada. The episodes are also available to download for free on i-Tunes, Live365 and Blackberry Store.
