Bryan McGovern's article, "Young Ireland and Southern Nationalism," was published in Irish Studies

 

KENNESAW, Ga. (Feb 28, 2017) — Dr. Bryan McGovern is an Associate Professor of History and History Education.

Dr. McGovern joined the History and Philosophy Department at Kennesaw State University in August 2007 after teaching at Quincy University in Illinois. He received his Ph.D. in history from the University of Missouri in 2003. He teaches courses in American and Irish history and is program coordinator for History Education. His research field is Irish-American Nationalism, and he has written John Mitchel: Irish Nationalist, Southern Secessionist with the University of Tennessee Press (2009) and co-authored The Fenians: Irish Rebellion in the North Atlantic World, 1858-1876 (2013). He also contributed a chapter on Irish immigration in The Making of Modern Immigration: An Encyclopedia of People and Ideas. He has written and published numerous articles and book reviews on Irish and Irish-American history. Currently, Dr. McGovern is working on a manuscript on Young Ireland in North America.
