Drs. Christopher Totten and Sutham Cobkit have an article published

KENNESAW, Ga. (Apr 24, 2014) — Drs. Christopher Totten and Sutham Cobkit recently published an article in the University of San Francisco Law Review (Volume 48, Issue 1). The article, entitled “The knock and announce rule and police arrests: Evaluating alternative deterrents to exclusion for rule violations,” aims to enhance understanding of the efficacy of the exclusionary rule compared to the alternative deterrents for police knock and-announce violations during arrests. The study includes a survey of police chiefs in large U.S. cities concerning their perceptions of the efficacy of the various deterrents to knock-and-announce misconduct in the arrest context (e.g., exclusion, education, training, discipline, and citizen review).  In addition, the survey questions the chiefs on their knowledge of knock and announce procedures in the arrest context and on officer training in this context.  This refereed journal has a solid ranking in its field.  In particular, the journal recently ranked 87th among 200 general, English-language law journals in print in the United States.  The journal also has a solid impact factor score (.70), and journal citations score (778).  The full citation is:  Totten, C.D. & Cobkit (Cheurprakobkit), S.
