Charles Perrin has been awarded a Fulbright  Scholarship.

For the 2017-2018 academic year, Dr. Perrin has been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship at Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) in Kaunas Lithuania. Congratulations Charles!

 

 

 

Charles Perrin earned his Ph.D. in History from Georgia State University in 2013 and previously worked for the National Archives and Records Administration in Washington, D.C. His research focuses on several themes in the history of modern Lithuania: the national movement in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, anti-Semitism, philosemitism, the making of national myths during the interwar period, and Diaspora myth-making after World War II. In 2014 he was awarded a research stipend to participate in a workshop on New Directions in Holocaust Perpetrator Research at the United States Holocaust Museum and Memorial in Washington, D.C. His publications include “Eating Bread With Tears: Martynas Jankus and the Deportation of Prussian Civilians to Russia During World War I,” Journal of Baltic Studies (forthcoming); “The 150 Year Anniversary of the Birth of Jonas ŠliÅ«pas,” Lithuanian Heritage (May/June 2011): 12–15; and (with Dovile Budryte) “The Idea of Europe in Selected American World History Textbooks,” Cultural Text Studies 2: Transatlantic, ed. Camelia Elias and Andrea Birch, 41–54 (Aalborg: Aalborg University Press, 2006). He is currently working on a manuscript titled “The Road to Lithuania: Martynas Jankus, Jonas Sliupas, Vincas Kudirka and the Formation of National Identity.”
